Gauss adapts to platform conventions:
- macOS: Uses Cmd as the primary modifier key
- Linux/Windows: Uses Ctrl as the primary modifier key
All shortcuts using the "secondary" modifier (shown as Cmd on macOS) will automatically use Ctrl on other platforms.
Build standard
To build Gauss from source, install the pinned Rust toolchain and the platform prerequisites described in the developer's guide. That guide explains the development build defaults, Make inputs and the coverage and release routes. See ADR 006 for the decision rationale.
RUST_FLAGS is a Make-only input: recipes that use it compose its value into
RUSTFLAGS, and it is not exported to child processes. Command-line values
still reach recursive Make through MAKEFLAGS.
NEXTEST_FLAGS applies only to direct Nextest runs in make test,
make test-ci and make test-quick. It does not affect the availability
probe, the cargo test fallback or doctests.
