Ansible testing

Updated Oct 17, 2026

Use ansible-testing for local-first Ansible testing of collections, roles, and modules: Molecule with Podman for role behaviour, and ansible-test for sanity, unit, and integration tests. For shared agent workspaces the skill's scheduling rules are:

  • Agents must not apply external parallelism to repository gates.
  • Agents must not run overlapping repository gates.
  • A repository may own bounded internal scenario parallelism through its own documented test target and repository-defined concurrency controls, and agents use that internal parallelism only when that repository's guidance explicitly documents it.
  • All other scenario commands and overlapping gates stay sequential by default.
  • MOLECULE_INSTANCE_SUFFIX and fact-cache isolation stay mandatory regardless of the scheduling mode.

The skill carries the full Molecule and native-worker rules, including the constraints that apply to native worker mode on CI or dedicated runners.
