Migrating an existing consumer

Version 0.1.3 Updated Sep 27, 2026

See the migration guide for 0.1.0 for the full steps and behaviour changes. In short, a repository that already carries a vendored generator, a phrase-check script and test, and a Makefile block naming a Typos version and a builder commit can replace all of it with the gate command:

  1. Delete the vendored generator script, the vendored phrase-check script, and their tests.
  2. Drop the TYPOS_VERSION, PATHSPEC_VERSION, and builder-commit Makefile variables, and any helper targets that existed only to invoke them (for example a spelling-helper-test target).
  3. Replace the spelling Makefile target with a single call to gate, pinned to v0.1.0:
   uvx --from "git+https://github.com/leynos/[email protected]" \
     typos-config-builder gate
  1. Add the two .gitignore lines for the untracked cache, if they are not already present.
  2. Regenerate typos.toml once by running the command above, and review the diff.
  3. Remove any local overlay entries added only to protect the Azure or GitHub-flavoured Markdown (GFM) style-guide product names once the shared dictionary carries them; check the regenerated typos.toml for the corresponding entries before deleting the overlay lines.
